Support people at court who might otherwise fall through the cracks. JAS is looking for volunteers across NSW to give back to their communities.

The role

A JAS Volunteer:
- Provides emotional and practical support to a person at court, police stations, legal meetings, or correctional facilities.
-Assists with explaining a person’s rights and outcomes including court orders and bail conditions.
- Facilitates any communication with Court Staff, Police and Lawyers.

Who is suitable?
- Someone who is flexible to be available sometime during Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
- Non-judgement and empathetic
- Good communicator

Need to know

Volunteers are comprehensively trained to effectively support people with Cognitive Impairment

We use an individual advocacy approach by arranging a support person to be with victims, witnesses and suspects/defendants when they are in contact with police, courts and legal representatives.
