If you are a reliable and caring person with a willingness to become friends with an older person living at home or in a residential aged care facility near you then this is for you.
The "Adopt an older Person " initiative addresses the issues of loneliness and isolation experienced by some older people. If you have great listening skills, curious nature and an understanding and respect for others, then the reward of a unique friendship is on offer. Speaking a language other than English is welcome as some of our seniors are from diverse backgrounds. Volunteers above the age of 18 will connect 1:1 weekly or fortnightly, sharing a coffee and a chat.
Training provided and Police check arranged and paid by organisation. VGC recruits for this role.
